Citizenship Status

All applicants are requested to complete Part 1 with their current citizen status.

In the MIT freshman admissions process, you are considered an international applicant if you are not a United States Citizen or a United States Permanent Resident (Green Card holder). Applicants awaiting Green Cards are considered to have Non-U.S. Citizen/Non-U.S. Permanent Resident status.

If there is a change in citizenship status during the application process you may send a copy of your Green Card via email or fax to 617-687-9184 and your status will be updated immediately, right up until decisions are announced mid-March.
